A.T. Allen Administration
Melanie Raso - Principal
At our school, we believe every Cardinal can learn, grow, and soar to new heights. Our goal is to provide opportunities for all students to succeed by fostering a love of learning, nurturing their unique strengths, and encouraging them to rise to challenges. We know that building strong, positive relationships is the foundation for success, and we are committed to investing in our school community so that THE NEST is a place where students feel safe, valued, and inspired. Together, we are growing game changers—students who are passionate, resilient, compassionate, and ready to make a difference.
As I begin my 25th year in elementary education and my 8th year as principal, I am proud to lead a team that truly believes education is a partnership between school and families. We value your voice, your involvement, and your trust as we work side by side to help each student thrive. Our shared commitment ensures that every child in THE NEST has the tools, encouragement, and opportunities they need to reach their full potential. Together, we will continue to make a lasting impact on our students and community—because once a Cardinal, always a Cardinal.
Rebecca Thomas - Assistant Principal
Education has always been my passion, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have turned that passion into a career in school leadership. My journey officially began in 2020 when I completed the Principal Fellows program. Prior to that, I spent 13 wonderful years teaching at Winecoff Elementary, where I developed a deep love for working with Title I populations and witnessed the incredible impact of strong relationships and high expectations in Title I schools.
A special part of my leadership story began right here at A.T. Allen, where I served as a lead teacher in 2014. Returning now feels like coming home, and I am absolutely thrilled to be back in the NEST! Over the past four years, I’ve served as an administrator in Cabarrus County Schools, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to lead and grow alongside the A.T. Allen Elementary family.
I am passionate about community engagement and firmly believe that strong collaboration between school and home—paired with highly engaging learning experiences—is the best way to ensure student success. I believe that all students can learn, and I’m excited to partner with you this year to support and celebrate our Cardinals!
Angie McClure - Interim Assistant Principal
I am committed to making connections with students and building relationships with the belief that all students can learn and grow. I look forward to partnering with families as we start this new school year. Watch us bloom!
Lisa Moore – Interim Assistant Principal
I have been an educator for over thirty years and have taught and served as a school administrator at the elementary and middle school levels. As a retired educator, I have served as an interim administrator or beginning teacher support specialist in many schools in Cabarrus County. I look forward to reconnecting with many familiar colleagues on the staff as well as getting to know new faces.
I have one grown daughter, Brooke who is a BT-2 and teaches at Hickory Ridge Elementary. I love volunteering in her classroom!
I am passionate about literacy instruction. I am super excited about the implementation of Arts and Letters this school year after reading many of the book titles!
